Bobby Brownies

Whatever the hell happened to Bobby Brown?  How did dude go from sportin’ a mean ass Gumby cut and tapered blazers (sans shirt) to a Chris Brown mentor?  And I ain’t the smartest cookie so can someone explain to me the redundancy in rockin’ suspenders and spandex bike shorts? Bobby, they tight for a reason… I guess my fashion game wasn’t on point at the age of 7.  Anyhow, Bobby went from churning out hit after hit to…. churning out hit after hit, albeit on Whitney and not the Billboard charts.  Practice what you preach Bobby: “Don’t Be Cruel”

*Disclaimer: yeahmanh.com and Betty Quocer neither condones, nor promotes, abusive R&B relationships or abusive relationships in general for that matter.  Shame on you Bobby and Chris!

I can’t say that these brownies were inspired by Bobby himself but I guarantee your tenderoni will love them.  Ha!

Mint Oreo Double Chocolate Brownies

Mint Oreo Double Chocolate Brownies

Original recipe credit goes to Ina Garten from O Magazine.  This recipe has been altered to my tastes and a smaller baking pan.

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 pound semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped (I use 2 ounces sweetened, 1 ounce unsweetened cause I’m a fatty)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2T instant coffee granules (optional, I made one batch with and thought the coffee flavor was too overwhelming)
  • 1 T vanilla
  • 1 cup + 2t sugar
  • 1/2 cup + 2t flour
  • 1/2T baking powder
  • 1/2t salt
  • 2 cups chopped Oreo cookies (I used 1/3 Mint Oreos, 2/3 regular Oreos.  I also twisted off one side of all cookies; I promise it makes it better)

Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350°F.

Butter and flour a 9″x 13″ baking pan and set aside.

In a heatproof medium bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, heat butter, chocolate chips and unsweetened chocolate until melted and smooth.  Allow to cool slightly.

In a large bowl, whisk eggs, coffee, vanilla and sugar.  Blend chocolate mixture into egg mixture; cool to room temperature.

In a medium bowl, sift together 1/2 cup flour, baking powder and salt.  Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture.

In a small bowl, stir Oreos and remaining 2t flour.  Add Oreo mixture to chocolate mixture.  Pour batter into baking pan and smooth top with a rubber spatula.  I just tap the baking pan on all sides, give it a little shake, and let it sit for a couple minutes to that it settles.

Bake 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted 3 inches from center comes out clean.  Allow to cool.  Refrigerate, tightly wrapped, until cold; cut into squares.

Make sure you follow every little step.
